Roxy Dogs Comfort the Students and Staff of CB West

Tragedy struck Central Bucks High School West on Monday, October 7, 2019, when a senior took her own life.

On Tuesday, the CB West administration witnessed how the students and staff were struggling and contacted Roxy Therapy Dogs that evening. They asked if we could possibly send a dog or two over on Thursday in the hopes of comforting the students and staff.

Roxy sent 11 teams and more volunteered, but the administrators thought that was enough. It was an emotional day for everyone, our volunteers included.

When the call went out on our volunteer Facebook page, the response was overwhelming. Sharon Fleck, Roxy President, said in the comments…

Thank you so much to everyone who is able to visit the students and staff at West. They are beyond grateful. And I am completely touched and blown away (never surprised) by the generosity of those who have changed their schedules to be able to attend West. What an extraordinary group of people we have here. You are all priceless.

This is why Roxy Therapy Dogs exists. This is what we do. Our mission is to support and comfort children of varying ages and in a wide range of circumstances. There is nothing like the warm fur and sweet face of a certified therapy dog to ease suffering and make difficult situations a tad bit easier.

I can’t thank you all enough for your kindness and willingness to help out tomorrow on such short notice. YOU are what makes Roxy so wonderful. I know the dogs’ presence alone will go a long way in helping our students.
