Scarlett is Detective for a Day!

by Mrs. Leeann Story, 1st Grade Teacher at Buckingham Elementary School

The StoryStars work together to earn a classroom party. The children put pompoms into our pom pom jar for acts of kindness, being brave, for being helpful, and for doing their best work. When the pom pom jar is filled to the tippy top…it’s time to celebrate all of their hard work! We vote on a classroom party. Last time we had a pirate party. Arrrrgh! This time a “Detective for the Day” party was the clear winner. The children came to school dressed as little detectives and spies. They were ready to be detectives throughout the day.

They had to know the secret password and the secret handshake to enter. Then they did “background checks” and fingerprinted their detective team. They especially enjoyed Secret Agent Badges and selected a specific codename for us to use throughout the day. We had a Detective Sparkle, The Flying Fish, and Detective Rainbow unicorn.

Their favorite part of the day is when our beloved class pet was “dognapped”. Scarlett was there to help us! We described the culprit, followed the clues left behind, and Scarlett our detective dog led the way! Fortunately we found our class pet, a stuffed dog named Rocket, in a 4th grade classroom. Thank you, Scarlett and Mrs. Donnelly, for being detectives with us.

Our class adores Scarlett’s Friday visits and they knew Scarlett would be a great detective at our Detective for a Day party!
