A Generous Book Donation

Roxy™ Therapy Dogs is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that is able to operate on a small budget thanks to its wonderful volunteers and loyal supporters.

As part of our Certificate of Excellence Series Insights into the Mental Health and Emotional Wellness of Children, featured speaker Wendy Maraska, Licensed Professional Counselor at Jones & Black Counseling LLC, recommended the book Dog Medicine: How My Dog Saved Me from Myself by Julie Barton.

As a New York Times bestseller, Dog Medicine, is an honest and deeply moving debut memoir about a young woman’s battle with depression and how her dog saved her life. It is available for purchase at Barnes & Noble.

It captures the anguish of depression, the slow path to recovery, the beauty of forgiveness, and the astonishing ways animals can help heal even the most broken hearts and minds.
Dog Medicine simply has to be your next must-read.

Our amazing Roxy volunteer and COE facilitator, Jennifer Shelly, contacted the book publishing house, Penguin Random House, to inquire about a discount for book purchases made by our COE participants. In response, Penguin Random House went above and beyond with a generous donation of 25 books in support of Roxy Therapy Dogs and our mission to support and comfort children in the community.

The books will be distributed to the COE Insights into the Mental Health and Emotional Wellness of Children lecture participants. To learn more about Roxy’s COE program, visit Certificate of Excellence.

We are grateful for the support of Penguin Random House and encourage everyone to read this inspiring book!
